5 Things from the previous week that I feel like sharing... or things that are impossible to share on Instagram. Read through until the end to see why this is a special edition.
01. Dogs Rule
No big surprise that I love dogs, so naturally I follow a ton of dog-related pages online. These are the best two videos I've seen in a while, and I found them both over the past few days.
Kellar, the blind 3-year old Springer Spaniel who makes the best out of life.
Bella and her Great Dane George. Man, this made me so happy.
02. Say No To Spec
If you're in the design, marketing, or advertising fields, there's not a snowball's chance in hell that you haven't seen this video yet. It's funny because it's true, and it's sad that it's funny. Also, while we're on the "Say No To Spec" train again, I wonder why more people don't speak up about saying no to Net-30-60-90. It's 2015 and the old ways of doing things need to change with the times. I have to admit, I let Net-30 slide (too) often, but really, clients should be paying when they receive the work or within 2-weeks, max. The only arguments in its favor seems to be that it's the way it's always been done, and that's not a very good reason to continue doing anything. Think about it, do you pay for your dinner 30-days after you eat it? Do you pay your plumber 60-days after they fix your broken sink? #SayNoToSpec #SayNoToNet30 #SayNoToNet60 #SayNoToNet90
03. Be Kind To Animals Or I'll Kill You
A lot of people don't like to read about animal abuse and neglect, but I feel the only way to help stop these things from happening is to keep sharing and letting everyone know what the reality is. Sadly, I feel like this could be a weekly segment. 7-years in prison is a cruel joke. Man Admits To Adopting Dog Off Craigslist, Burning Her Alive. Read the full article HERE
04. In Nairo We Trust
"Why not dream of winning two Grand Tours? If I lose it's news and they will say: 'Nairo Quintana failed to win the two races,' but it's talked about. At least I will try — there's no doubt about that." — Nairo Quintana

05. How Far Have We Really Come?
This is out of my wheelhouse, but not saying anything is agreeing with the way things are. Gender Pay Gap is still an issue in 2015, and the good ol boys are still allowing it to happen, if not intentionally keeping it that way. At this rate, women won't see equal pay until 2058. I'll be 81-years old in 2058! How is this possible or okay?
Women In Technology: Why It's Good For Everyone... and why it's time to "De-Brogram The Culture." How good is that line! You can't say you're all about doing the right thing if you're not, in fact, doing the right thing... unless those words are just part of a marketing gimmick. It shouldn't take being investigated or a national outcry to pay women their due. Why wouldn't you want to raise up your talent? It's good business, even if your talent has more balls than someone with a pair.
I don't think it matters what gender you are — there's only one side to be on. Women weren't allowed to vote until 1920! That's insane! How far have we really come? How is this also not a bigger issue? What good is Democracy if our interpretation of equality isn't very equal? This isn't about 78-cents for women to every one-dollar for men anymore. The reality can often be a difference of tens of thousands of dollars.
I'm not saying one form of inequality is worse than another. Far from it. If you know me, you know I want the same things for everyone. Everything going on in the world today bothers me deeply. This is just something I chose to write about because I see it affect people close to me.
The California Fair Pay Pact is a step in the right direction. Here are a few resources to check out:

Suffragette is now playing in extremely limited release. It's a British Historical Period Drama, but is sadly still very relevant.
Davide Barco : Killer sports illustrations, especially basketball. Cool aesthetic.
Garth Glazier : I had the privilege of learning from Garth back in 2005/2006. Rendering was my favorite class and I learned a ton. Great teacher and great guy. Love his illustration styles, of which he excels at many, but especially like when I pick up some Art Deco in his work.
++ Happy Birthday, Finnegan!
On November 11, 2010, a very special dog was born — my Finnegan! Today marks his 5th Birthday and I hope we'll share many more in the years to come.
This is a picture from his 2nd birthday, and his first birthday with Willow. I'm sure my Instagram stream will have several pics of him throughout the day... maybe some Willow, too.
